How an Electronic Dog Fence uses Repetition to Train Pets

Electronic technology is used in a lot of useful applications. Among some of the more advanced uses of technology is the electronic dog fence. Designed as a comprehensive training system, this fence is an effective way to train dogs to stay in their yards. The fence itself is not actually a fence, but an underground cable, which is not visible on the property. This means it will not interfere with the beauty of the surrounding landscape. It is also created to be more flexible than traditional fences, which allows it to be positioned around a variety of areas.

The Electronic System

In addition to the underground cable, an electronic dog fence also uses a unique combination of external components. These include a specially designed collar for the dog, as well as an outdoor transmitter. The electricity running through the cable is picked up by a receiver in the dog's collar, which in turn sends a signal to the transmitter. As these components work together the dog learns where the boundaries of the property are. Every time the dog gets in close to proximity to the cable the collar emits a low grade electronic pulse, which is felt by the dog and perceived as a warning.

Safe and Effective

The electronic pulse sent to the dog is gentle enough to not cause harm, but strong enough to be detected by the dog as a signal to not venture any further. Since the electronic dog fence is made to be consistent in how it delivers its message, the training is much more effective. This system also works without the constant interaction of a pet's owner, so any time the dog is outside and wearing its collar, the training is being enforced. The repetition of the training stays within the dog's mind to keep it within the boundaries of its yard.
